Bilingual Theater Walk
200 Years Danish Era in Altona by Urte Langrock (German / Danish)
Guided theatrical tour of Altona – In this walking act we embark on a vivid and entertaining journey into the era of the Danish rule of Altona that lasted for (over) 200 years. It shall be lead in an entertaining way, explaining many historical facts, buildings, monuments and sculptures most of us ignore. In addition to the historical material, there are poems and songs from local poets such as Heinrich Heine and writers like Jules Verne, who paid a visit to this part of the world and used Hamburg as the starting point of the journey to the center of the Earth in his famous novel of the same name. The Society of that epoch will be theatrically brought to life, with special focus on the enlightenment and reverberations of a time, when Altona was at the peak of its economic, cultural and spiritual growth.
The walking tour will take place bilingually (Deutsch/Dansk).
The tour will begin at the fountain “Stuhlmannbrunnen” in front of Altonaer Museum close to the Altona trainstation
