New Kirkgate, The Foot of Leith Walk
Open all day from Friday 25th September 1pm – Sunday 27th September 4pm
“Glimpse from the past in the Foot of the Walk future”
This Space Could Be… is interactive public engagement project that invites users of the Foot of Leith Walk to share their thoughts, desires and ideas for the local public space. TSCB arranged a number of small interventions and consultation events in the space of New Kirkgate. In playful and democratic ways, people of Leith were asked to tell us what they think this space could be… We listened and tried to understand the space with its folk, history, spirit and potential.
The findings of the research have been gathered in “The report on conditions and potential of space at the Foot of the Leith Walk and New Kirkgate and design recommendations based on innovative ‘on the spot’ public consultations”.
Now the time has come to turn some of the thoughts gathered in the report into a something tangible. For these few days of the festival an installation will appear in Foot of the Walk area. At the moment the details need to stay secret. We can assure you that it’s strongly related to what People of Leith have told us during the interventions and on our fb page and also that it is strongly anchored in the heritage and spirit of Leith!
What is it?
Pop in to the Foot of Leith, look around, ask questions, share stories and please comment on Space Could Be fb profile
